Hi Everyone!

I am very excited to be in this class—It is my first semester at Brooklyn College and my first as an Early Childhood Education major! I originally pursued Business Administration, but when it came time to transfer, I realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. I’ve chosen education instead, which is a much more meaningful career path for me. I can share a couple of relevant facts about me for this introduction post:

  • My favorite reading memory from my childhood is my mom reading me the novel “Pollyanna” by Eleanor H. Porter. I loved this book so much that I asked my mom to read it to me a few times. I remember wanting to be similar to Pollyanna – she was a happy child who brought joy to people around her, and I found it beautiful. Pollyanna’s optimism and sense of gratitude not only spread to the people around her but also helped her shield herself from the often depressive world of adults. My mom read it to me when I was 7-8 years old, and we talked about everything we read. I asked her questions, and she would explain the book to me.
  • As we are in a children’s literature class, a noteworthy fact about me is that I am The Lorax’s biggest fan! I love this book so much that I even tattooed the Lorax on my body. It is most definitely my favorite children’s book of all time.

I will finish my post with my favorite quote from The Lorax:

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.

― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
